Absolutely fantastic experience! The doubles were some of the best I’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and packed with authentic Trinidadian taste. The curry chicken was equally incredible, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. What really made this place stand out, though, was the hospitality. The owners were unbelievably friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about sharing their food and culture. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel like family. If you’re looking for authentic Trinidadian cuisine and outstanding customer service, this place is a must-visit. Great food, great people, and an all-around awesome experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

It’s so good that I’m speechless! My partner and I had 4 types of doubles: traditional, curry chicken, stew chicken, and goat. I also tried Chef Rodney’s homemade pepper sauce. While my partner had the coconut drops made by the chef’s mother. When I say you should be running here I mean it run! The hospitality, the atmosphere, THE FOOD, and the culture you find here is everything you want in a local community restaurant. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Dany!!! Such a welcoming spirit! If you want to get to know the local spots that’s who you need to talk to.

Rodney and the owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. You can really feel the warmth and hospitality the moment you walk in. Everything was full of flavor and made for a great experience. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend Pepper’s Island Trini Restaurant. Plenty of seating and outside parking.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pepper’s Island in Ybor City is a great little spot if you’re craving authentic Trinidad-style food. The atmosphere is casual, clean, and welcoming—simple and relaxed with music playing in the background but not too loud. We ordered the curry shrimp roti and the curry goat platter with rice, chana, and curry potato. The shrimp curry definitely brings some heat, but the flavor is fantastic. The owner actually warned me ahead of time about the spice level, which I appreciated. The goat curry was tender and flavorful but not as spicy, which balanced the meal nicely. The paratha (buss up shut) was flaky and perfect for soaking up the curry, and the homemade coconut cookie was a great sweet finish. Highly recommend trying the mango pineapple herbalade juice—fresh, tropical, and perfect for cooling down after the spicy curry. Service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the prices felt fair for the quality and portion sizes. If you’re in Tampa and want real Caribbean curry and roti, Pepper’s Island is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back.

Had dinner tonight at Pepper island and it was delicious. I recommend the goat and shrimp doubles!!! Definitely putting this restaurant in rotations as my go to!! I also hosted my birthday here back in January and it was such a great vibe. Rodney and his team were great as was his Friend DJ Jeff playing music. Always a great time!!
